Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the Month unless otherwise noted.  Meetings start with a half-hour social beginning at 6:30 PM.  Program starts at 7:00PM followed by a short business meeting. Meetings are generally held at the Champaign Public Library UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.  An email reminder of location, time and topic will be sent out shortly before  the meeting.

September 12, 2017.  Renew your Guild friendships at our September meeting. Enjoy some adult beverages while learning about the Guild Library. Our new library location is at the Community Center for the Arts in Urbana. This location is accessible to members during the Center’s regular hours. We will be taking suggestions for what you would like in the Library. We will also be looking for suggestions for workshops and educational programs that you want the Guild to sponsor in the coming year. Location: Community Center for the Arts, 202 West Main Street, Urbana. Time 6:30 PM.

October 10, 2017.   Show and Tell, Show and Sale.   Everyone’s favorite meeting of the year.  Bring the projects you’ve done over the summer for everyone to admire. There will also be reminder of last minute details for the November Show and Sale. Location: Champaign Public Library. Time: 6:30 PM Social, 7 PM Meeting.

November 14, 2017Metalsmithing to Materialsmithing. How does someone who is traditionally trained in a craft go on to make objects that cross craft boundaries? Presented by Billie Theide, Professor of Art in the School of Art + Design, and Chair of Crafts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the program is an exciting look how to push your creativity outside your normal limits of crafting. Professor Theide is trained in Metalsmithing, and may be the only crafter at the big U. Location: Champaign Public Library. Time: 6:30 PM Social, 7 PM Meeting.

December 12,2017. Christmas Potluck. Our annual Potluck graciously hosted by Jayne Burkhardt, Location: 306 W. Vermont, Urbana, Il. Time: 6:00 PM. NOTE THE EARLIER TIME!

January 9, 2018.  Our own version of Antique Roadshow. Bring your old jewelry, ladies accessories, hats and purses and any other antique you’re curious about. Susan Biggs Warner will tell us about these items. She can’t guarantee she’ll recognize everything, but crowd sourcing will probably help since our members are so knowledgeable too. Location: Champaign Public Library. Time : 6:30 PM Social, 7:00 PM meeting.

February 13, 2018. Join us for needle felting! Joellyn Cobb will tell us about the ins and outs of needle felting including the best wools and needles to use. She will demonstrate how creative you can be with needle felting. If, like me, you have in your stash a small needle felting project you picked up at a yarn show, bring it along and join in the fun. Joellyn sells her needle felted works at the Vault in Tuscola and teaches classes as well. Location:  Champaign Public Library. Time: 6:30 PM Social. 7:00 PM Program.

March 13, 2018.  Selling Your Handmades.  A panel discussion by Guild members. Pros and cons of art fairs, craft shows, farmers markets and selling online. Location:  Champaign Public Library. Time: 6:30 PM Social. 7:00 PM meeting.

April 10, 2018.  CUSWG-Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. We acknowledge our past while planning for the future.  Share your ideas for what the Guild should be and how it should serve its members. Also, our Annual Bourse to sell, swap or donate fiber related items. Location: Champaign Public Library. Time: 6:30 PM Social, 7:00 PM meeting.

May 8, 2018. Spring Potluck and Installation of 2018 Officers. Merilee Hofswell is hosting our Spring Potluck. Location:  Mahomet, further directions with the May newsletter.  Time: 6:00 PM. NOTE THE EARLIER TIME.!
