Join us on a journey to Malaysia and learn about the country’s textile art landscape. Esther & Beth Peregrine will share their knowledge and pictures of their recent trip to Malaysia where they visited the National Textile Museum, batik factories, and a songket studio.

December 8, 6:30 via Zoom: How to Scour Wool like a Boss

Note the time change. Mary Egbert, owner of Camaja Fiber Arts and the Spinning Box, will give an online presentation on how to scour wool. 

January 12, 6:30 via Zoom: Color Blending and Making Ombre Batts

Note the time change. Mary Egbert returns to show some techniques for working with color.

February 9, 7:00 via Zoom: Collaboration with Spurlock Museum

Kim Sheahan, story- teller and Assistant Director of Education at Spurlock Museum, will talk about the guild history of collaboration with the museum.

March 9, 7:00 via Zoom: Dyeing Sock Blanks

Heidi Malone and Jennie Smith from Metamora, IL, specialize in creating lovely dyed roving and other products for sale. Heidi is our 2018 Spinning Retreat presenter Sarah Anderson’s sister. Heidi and Jennie dyed the roving we used in the retreat and sold some of their gorgeous variegated dyed roving at the retreat.

April 6, 7:00 via Zoom: Common Ground Co-op and Local Food

Sara Buckman from the Urbana Food Co-op is going to talk about what the Co-op’s role is in local food.

May 11, 5:30 pavilion at Hessel Park: Socially Distanced Picnic!
